U.S. College Scholarship Assistance

Welcome to the U.S. Scholarship Guide. This website is a free guide of resources and tips to help you find college scholarships and other financial aid. In creating this guide, we discovered that nearly everyone is eligible for some sort of scholarship, grant, or other financial assistance. We are confident you will find untapped money to help with your educational goals.

Scholarships

This website features a comprehensive listing of scholarships for all types of students. We give you the freedom to browse by categories, such as minority scholarships for Native Americans or for women. You can also search by your field of study, such as business, nursing, or medical scholarships. There are many other subjects and categories to browse. We have also sorted scholarships by state, so please find your state and browse for scholarship and grant opportunities.

Grants

Since grants and scholarships both give out money that does not have to be paid back, it's worth your time to look over any grant programs for which you may qualify. We have categorized a variety of college grant offers much like our list of scholarships. Browse the grants available for minorities, people with disabilities, or by subject area. We also have state specific grants and low-income federal grants such as the Federal Pell Grant.

Loans

If you need a loan, you will probably receive one or more Federal Stafford Loans. Depending on your financial situation, these can be subsidized or unsubsidized. The other popular federal loan is the Perkins Loan. You can access these funds directly from the Department of Education. If you need additional loans, please browse our student-targeted loans from banks and financial institutions.

College Saving Plans

Besides grants and scholarship programs, most state governments have instituted sponsored savings plans, often referred to as a 529. A 529 plan is a tax-advantaged savings plan designed to encourage saving for future college costs. In addition to the 529, you may want to consider Coverdell Education Saving Accounts, Custodial accounts, U.S. Series EE savings bonds, or the Hope and Lifetime Learning Credits. We also will provide a comparison chart of all the college savings plans and tips on choosing one.

Last Minute Scholarships

Lastly, we provide a list of late deadline scholarships suitable for last-minute applicants who are hoping to scrape together a couple extra dollars before the semester begins.
