Minority Grants for College
Minorities often have great hardships for many of reason. Because of this, there are a wide variety of college grants available to minorities, both ethnic and non-ethic.

Types of Minority Grants
There are 2 main categories in which minority grants are given:
- Ethnic minority grants are those designed to offer assistance based on an ethnic challenge. Grants are provided for Native American, Mexican (and other Latin American and South American cultures), blacks, Asians, Cubans, and Arabs.
- Non-ethnic minority grants offer need-based aid to individuals who have physical impairment that may be of a disadvantaged in pursuit of an education or professional career. Grant are provided for the disabled; gay, lesbian, bi-sexual, and transgendered individuals; deaf, blind, and mute students; and women.
Federal and State Minority Grants
Federal and state government grant funds are the best source and most popular minority grants. The reason for this popularity is because the government is very proactive in handing out need-based aid to minority and low-income students. The United States government believes in creating a self-sustaining economy built on its diversity. The following is list of popular federal grants:
Minority Foundations
Another important source of minority grants are minority foundations. These foundations sole mission is to provide assistance to further educate its people. The following is a list of well-known foundations:
- The Bureau of Indian Affairs, or the American Indian College Fund
- The Hispanic College Fund
- United Negro College Fund
Coporate America
Another importanat source of minority grants is Corporate America. There are so many companies in the United States that commited to diversity. They spends millions of dollars support students through grants and scholarships. They include ethnic and non-ethnic scholarships. Other Minority College Grants
The American Anthropological Association invites minority doctoral candidates in anthropology to apply for a full-year dissertation fellowship of $10,000. This program is designed to demonstrate the Association's support for promising minority graduate students in anthropology and to demonstrate its commitment to the long-range goal of increasing diversity in the discipline.
Gilbert Rios Memorial Award — $5000 awarded each year to 1 male and 1 female Puerto Rican/Latino undergraduate students.
Gulf Coast Research Laboratory Minority Summer Grant — Unnamed grant awarded each year to 1 Hispanic or other minority heritage undergraduate student.
Jose Marti Scholarship Challenge Grant Fund — $2000 awarded each year to 63 Hispanic-American students.
Koniag Education Career Development Grant — 2 grants awarded each year to 1 Alaskan Native freshman for career development; amount determined by application.
National Leadership Development Grants — $500 to $5000 awarded each year to minority member of United Methodist Church undergraduate students.
Osage Higher Education Grant — $300 to $1200 awarded three times per year for varied number of Osage Indian descent undergraduate and graduate students.
Sons of Italy National Leadership Grants Competition General Scholarships — $4000 to $25,000 for 10-13 Italian descent undergraduate and graduate students.
