Single mothers often carry a financial burden that can be overwhelming. Not only do many single mothers carry the responsibility of raising children; they also carry the responsibility of caring for their children financially. Being a single mother can also put a damper on a woman's plans to go back to school to get that degree she needs to improve her financial situation. Many single mothers don't realize that there is assistance out there for them, often in the form of grants.
Raise the Nation is a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to provide economic support to single parent women who want to continue with their education or repay student loans.
The Women's Independence Scholarship is a project of The Sunshine Lady Foundation (SLF) of North Carolina. The objective of the program is to help survivors of domestic violence obtain an education that will in turn offer them the chance to secure employment, personal independence and self sufficiency.
