For students and parents, one of the biggest concerns is being able to to pay for college. One can easily apply for loans to pay for college but the down side is that you have to repay this money. The best alternative is to get scholarships or free money. Find out what you need to qualify for scholarships by following these tips to request for scholarship information:

1) Ask for information as early as possible.

The earlier you know the requirements for the scholarship, the better you will be prepared to qualify for it.

2) Go online and check out information about the college of interest and its scholarships.

Since all colleges have a website now, you can take virutal tour of the school and find what scholarships they offer.

3) Call the college admission office and get the scholarship information that you want.

4) Pay a visit to the school or organization offering scholarships.

This is great way to add a person touch. Be polite and treat it like a job interview.

5) Be prepared with your school documents as early as possible

Most scholarships and college applications request the same information. Knowing and having the following things together can save you time and make sure you do not miss any critical deadlines. Most Scholarships typically looks at:

  • Grades in each subject;
  • GPA;
  • Overall Class Rank;
  • Test results of your American College Test) or SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test);
  • School awards and/or Academic Recognition;
  • Recommendations
